Seven Year Witch formed in 2018 around the talents of the Burden brothers, Spencer (bassist) and Seth (drummer) alongside vocalist Aaron Langford. Soon after, Beau Anderson (guitarist) joined the band and from there, the band was unstoppable. Their unique sound blends elements of classic rock, alternative rock, and a touch of grunge, creating a captivating and energetic musical experience. With their infectious melodies, powerful guitar riffs, and dynamic vocals, they quickly gained a dedicated following. What sets Seven Year Witch apart is their ability to deliver electrifying live performances. Their stage presence is captivating, and they have a knack for drawing the audience into their music. Their energy and passion are truly contagious, leaving concert-goers wanting more.

Spencer Burden (Bassist)

On September 1, 2023, I was given the opportunity to sit and talk with these insanely funny and incredibly talented men before they hit the stage at The Radio Room in Greenville, South Carolina. We started by getting into their individual musical influences; Seth starts by talking about a band from Asbury, New Jersey, The Parlor Mob. “I take a lot of inspiration from them, they are like a diamond in the rough type band! They’re awesome.” Aaron agrees and states, “They are really good, Seth turned me onto them. Mainly, from childhood, really, I was a huge Soundgarden fan - really anything with Chris Cornell in it. Rival Sons is another really big one I like.” Following Aaron, Beau goes into his influences, “My big three are: Muse, Queens of The Stone Age, and anything Jack White is involved in. Of course I venture out to bands like: Led Zeppelin, The Arctic Monkeys, and bands like that but those three, are my big three.” Finally, Spencer shares who influenced him. “Jack White, I’ll reiterate that one, anything that he does.”.

We continued with our conversation and began discussing their current highest musical achievements. “Uh, well - we play a show..” Aaron jokes, “you can look at it in

different tiers really - like, you kind of wear many masks as a band.

Beau Anderson (Guitarist)

You have your local scene, we’ve worked really hard to become ‘little champions’ of the local scene so we won the Upstate Music Awards twice. That was really cool and really rewarding to have the people you’re around on a daily basis to recognize the hard work you’re putting in.” he continues, “For me at least, on one end of the spectrum, that’s a really nice achievement. Secondly, being able to do this professionally - somewhat. Being able to go across the country and have people know who you are. That’s awesome!”. Following Aaron, Spencer states what he feels like his achievements are, “There’s a lot of accomplishments across the board but what really feels nice is when it’s not limited to one thing. For example, we have been recognized locally with the Upstate Music Awards and then outside of locally, we’ve been lucky enough to have videos go viral and have been lucky enough to get on tours. Just a culmination of all of those things - it makes us really feel like we’re on the right track.”. Seven Year Witch has been able to go on tour and work alongside bands like: Buckcherry, Jackyl, Sevendust, and Pop Evil. “I’d say for me, Eddie Trunk being into SYW. He’s like best friends with Mike Portnoy, who is like my hero. He [Eddie] is friends with everybody that I want to meet and be friends with.” Seth replied, “Eddie saw us once and he was in love with it, we can email him and he’ll email us right

Aaron Langford (Vocalist)

back, he unofficially plays us on one of his shows and stuff. Having somebody that involved and cool that really digs what we’re doing is amazing.”. Out of all of their achievements that they have so far, they still want to achieve signing to a label and traveling overseas.

From sharing lots of laughs, talking about how life on the road is, and so much more, we finally got to the final question — “Following the release of ‘Mark Cuban’, what should we expect to come next?”. Seth starts by talking about the release of their new song, “We have this song called ‘Black and Blue’, that we recorded years ago now. We just had a few songs backlogged and slated to come out, but that’s the next one.”.

If you haven't already, you should definitely take a look at Seven Year Witch and their newest song, 'Blue and Black'. It's a superb piece of music that flawlessly combines classic rock and Seven Year Witch's signature sound. You can find all their music on any music streaming service.
